X3 - Cheruskerweg

The X3 - Cheruskerweg, a main hiking trail of the Teutoburg Forest Association, connects one of the most famous German monuments, the "Hermannsdenkmal" in Lippe, with the traditional spa town of Oeynhausen and leads up to the Wiehengebirg ridge. The Cheruskerweg connects the European long-distance hiking trails E 1 (North Cape-Sicily) and E 11 (The Hague-Talinn (Estonia).

After a short visit to the WALK hiking competence center and an ascent of the Hermann monument with its panoramic views, we start our hike down into the town of Detmold towards the LWL open-air museum, the largest open-air museum in Germany at around 90 hectares.
