Monument Church

Listed church from the 12th century

The history of the listed Bartholomew's Church can be traced back to the 12th century. The current building consists of the tower as the oldest part; its foundations date back to the early days of St. Bartholomew's Church in the 12th century. Possibly 300 years earlier, the Franks had already built a first church on this site on a Saxon cult site. The nave and choir were rebuilt in their current form in the 16th century in the Gothic style, while the massive transept arms were added in 1893. Inside the church, the following are particularly worth seeing: the wooden carved winged altar from 1520, the apostle figures (also from around 1520), the vestibule cross (around 1400) and the pulpit from 1588. A detailed guide is available in the church. The English oak to the east of the church is a nature reserve.
