On this tour, you start your hike at the historic Rathsapotheke pharmacy. From there, you hike along the Apothekerweg up to the castle ruins. We recommend taking a look at them at the end of the tour and enjoying the fantastic view with a cool drink.
Loose up the Apothekerweg. Over steps, roots and gravel paths, the route climbs steeply uphill, protected by the trees, towards the castle ruins/car park of the castle. From there, the route descends through the forest towards the B514. Once you arrive at Sperlsiek, you leave urban life behind and turn off into the forest. The dense treetops in summer provide shade and a pleasant coolness as you make your way through the hilly landscape.
At the old forester's house, the route climbs steeply once again before you find yourself back in the middle of the woods. Some time later, the route continues past a lonely house towards the stadium. Shortly afterwards, you will arrive back at the castle ruins.
With a bit of luck, you will be able to see as far as the Kaiser Wilhelm monument in Porta Westfalica from the castle walls. After a cool drink, the descent to the starting point begins.
