Walk along the quiet beauty of the wayside from the Village of Animals in Dörentrup-Schwelentrup to Sternberg Castle
The forest is calling!
On the Schwelentrup tree adventure trail, you can identify 44 tree species. We have labeled these tree species with numbers. You can guess the names of the trees and read the descriptions of 18 selected species on the corresponding folding map.
You can call up the background information for all 44 tree species with your smartphone
using the QR code below.
So you can experience a guessing quiz with the whole family on the Tree Adventure Trail if you feel like it.
The Schwelentrup Tree Adventure Trail takes you around Sternberg Castle to the historic stable barn along the old forester's lodge through the arboretum over approx. 3.5 km to Schwelentrup. You walk through beautiful countryside along a forest stream. Around the castle, you will see large areas of wild garlic, the rhododendron and in April
the breathtaking larkspur blossom. Enjoy a wonderful view of the Bega Valley from up here.
The Schwelentrup play and rest area next to the historic stable barn can be used for playing, resting or picnicking to your heart's content.
If you don't want to walk the tree adventure trail from Schwelentrup back to Sternberg Castle, you can take buses 800 and 802 from the Schwelentrup Grünental bus stop not far from the Historische Stallscheune to the Extertal Linderhofe bus stop back to Sternberg Castle every hour (outside school vacations).
