    Lage-Hörste sports ground

    The Hörste Nordic walking route is one of three planned Nordic walking routes in Lage and is very challenging with a length of more than 12 km and some inclines. The Hörste route is part of the Lippe Nordic Walking Park, to which five towns and municipalities in Lippe have joined forces.

    "The Romans are coming!" - That's what the people of Lippe say in remembrance of old times when they see a group of Nordic walkers marching through the Teutoburg Forest again.

    After Dörentrup, Horn-Bad Meinberg, Extertal and Detmold, the town of Lage opened the fifth Lippe Nordic walking center in Hörste in 2008, completing the five centers. The German Ski Association has certified a total of 19 routes with a total distance of 143 km in the five centers. All routes are homologated according to sports science criteria, graded by different levels of difficulty and signposted with signposts and information boards, so that athletes receive assistance, for example on the correct cross-country skiing technique.

    The Nordic walking route starts at the Hörste sports field (small sports field parking lot) and takes you along the Hermannsweg in the direction of Bienen-Schmidt (forest restaurant). From there you walk through the Senne to Augustdorf. From Augustdorf, the route takes you a short distance along Waldstraße to the first junction (military cemetery). You then return to the start via the Hermannsweg and the Hörste exit. The route is signposted with signposts and information boards.

    In winter, the Hermannsweg is sometimes slippery.

    A2, exit Bielefeld-Zentrum on the B66 in the direction of Lage. In Helpup, turn right towards Stapelage. In the center of Hörste, turn right towards Augustdorf. Behind the Haus des Gastes, keep right and follow the road to the left. Continue straight on to the starting point at the parking lot.

    Take the 951 bus from Lage (Lippe) station to the "Ikenkamp" stop. From there it is about a 10-minute walk to the starting point.
