Museum/Exhibition

The volunteer-run MuMa-Forum offers a permanent home to two major Bielefeld institutions, as well as a collection of film technology that is unique in Germany.

Passing on tradition: The Bielefeld cinema (technology) enthusiasts have made this their mission. The museum is dedicated to two important film sons of Bielefeld: Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, one of the most important silent film directors, and Joseph Massolle, who as an engineer was involved in the invention of sound film and made it suitable for mass production. The new museum is the first place in Germany where film art and film technology and the inseparable importance of these two disciplines can be experienced.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are changing special exhibitions on exciting film art and film technology topics. The private museum also offers bookable group tours.

The MuMa Forum is not only a place of learning and experience, but also of communication and exchange. Seminars, lectures, discussions and much more can take place in the actual "forum area".
