The Detmold State Theatre, the Detmold University of Music, a varied and rich cultural life and numerous sights contribute to this. The completion of the "Friedrichstal Park Landscape", which stretches from the historic old town to the island meadows near the open-air museum, has created another highlight. Located in the Teutoburg Forest | Eggegebirge Nature Park, Detmold is also worthwhile for nature lovers, as many hiking and cycling trails run through the town, such as the "Hermannsweg" or the "Römer-Lippe-Route" cycle route and the European cycle route R1.
