Baroque courtyard complex with café, wood craft museum and cultural workshop

The Hiddenhausen estate is one of the few completely preserved and undeveloped baroque farm complexes in East Westphalia-Lippe. The oldest building is the manor house, which dates back to 1665 and was built by Otto Consbruch, who had been the Prussian bailiff of Enger since 1647, but only acquired the estate and its rights from the previous owner in 1701.

The entire estate complex is now a listed building - the manor house, the orangery, the three tithe barns, the hereditary burial ground and the park are protected as historical monuments.

The estate is still owned by the von Consbruch family and can only be viewed from the outside. However, three restored barns and a small park have been opened to the public.

Two of the barns house the Woodcraft Museum, while the third houses the Culture Workshop.

The old workshop is now a cozy café (www.cafe-hiddenhausen.de). You can enjoy a delicious breakfast there on a Sunday morning! The breakfast table awaits you on the sunny terrace with a view of the beautiful rose blossom or the small pond where ducks frolic. And if it's too cold, a small fire is lit in the oven in the cozy café.

Homemade cakes and pies are available from 2 p.m.
