Key Castle
The foundation of Schlüsselburg dates back to 1335, when Bishop Ludwig von Minden established it as "Slotenburg" to protect his territory against the Counts of Hoya. The preserved two-storey manor house with a triangular gable was rebuilt between 1581 and 1585 by Ludolf von Klencke in the Weser Renaissance style, is now privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside. There has been a stork's nest on the chimney of its north gable for decades.
