Visitors can experience historical lessons based on the old Prussian school regulations of 1872 at first hand in the village school built in 1815 in the Riege district.
Here, the Hövelriege/Riege village community has set up a historic classroom in the old village school, which is now a listed building. Exhibits from all eras of school history are on display in several exhibition rooms, including the "Golden ABC", a unique sight in the whole of Westphalia. Visitors appreciate the special way of looking back at the development of the German school system "as it was 100 years ago" and the historical lessons offered to all visitor groups, from school classes to groups of senior citizens. The historic school garden and the historic school bell from 1881 in the tower on the roof are also special gems.
