St. Aegidius-Kirche Wiedenbrück

The church has been a religious center of the upper Emsland for over 1000 years. The church has been renovated and extended from time to time.

During the Thirty Years' War, it was besieged and shot at - if you look closely, you can still see a cannonball attached to the church as a memorial.

The most recent renovations date back to 2006, some of which were sharply criticized for the modern redesign of the west wall and organ stage using large steel and wooden panels. On the other hand, however, they were also highly praised for reflecting the current generation in a contemporary form without historicizing ingratiation.
