Windmühle Eickhorst - Westfälische Mühlenstraße Nr. 31

A masterpiece from 1848
The Eickhorst windmill, also known as "Storks Mühle", is an imposing Wall-Holland mill that was built in 1848. It impresses not only with its historic architecture, but also with its impressive mechanics: The mill has two flap sails and two sail sails, as well as a wind rose that optimally aligns the sails. The windmill was built on the foundations of an older trestle mill, which was already mentioned in 1750.

Architecture and construction of the mill
The mill has a conical quarry stone tower, which gives it a robust and impressive appearance. To protect the tower from the weather, the weather side was additionally plastered. The mill rests on an earth wall, which provides additional stability and underlines the solid construction.

Historical outbuildings: bakehouse and granary
The mill grounds include other interesting historical buildings. A small bakehouse from 1879 adds to the charm of the site and shows how traditional craftsmanship was practiced in the past. Also preserved is a granary from 1858, which was used for storage then as it is today. These outbuildings complete the picture of an authentic mill site and make the Eickhorst windmill an ideal excursion destination for history and technology enthusiasts.
