Wasserturm Gütersloh

The water tower in Friedrichstraße was put into operation on October 8, 1888, making it one of the oldest water towers in the district of Gütersloh. It was an important part of the municipal water supply, as its height of 40.80 meters and its location at an altitude of 74.35 meters above sea level ensured sufficient water pressure in the pipes. The old water tank held 310 cubic meters of water.

Preserved as a historical monument and carefully restored, the water tower is now the focus of the "Rock and Pop in the Tower" project, which was initiated by the Gütersloh Community Foundation, Kulturräume Gütersloh and the Gütersloh District Music School. The tower serves as a rehearsal room for the rock and pop section of the music school and can be rented as a rehearsal room by up-and-coming bands at set times by arrangement with the music school. Concerts are also held in the water tower.
