The Heimathaus Wehdem opens its doors on the second Sunday of the month from 14:30-18:00. In addition to the permanent exhibition, each opening day is dedicated to a specific theme. Free guided tours are offered on the opening days. The Heimathaus is a Low German two-storey half-timbered house. It originally stood in Niedermehnen. It was rebuilt in Wehdem in 1990/1991 and has served as a local history house ever since. It displays objects from Stemwede's living and working environment from earlier times. In addition to historical furniture, household items and linen, you will also find a historical classroom and an exhibition on the subject of emigration. On the grounds behind the main house is the farm garden with herbs and flowers as well as a reconstructed coach house. Old agricultural implements and tools from various trades from the past are on display here.
