Museum day - Old distillery in Hille

Museum day in the grain distillery and insight into the new foam warehouse.
In the distillery room, the museum guides explain how drinking alcohol was produced from rye here in the former Christian Meyer agricultural grain distillery until 1990.

During the last winter months, the museum team from the Hille local history and horticulture association has changed the content, structure and appearance of the exhibition of small agricultural and household tools that has been on display for more than 20 years.

The agricultural objects have been collected and transferred to the new museum barn of the "Alte Brennerei" association on the Oeynhausen estate. "We are using the space we have gained to create a storage area with various household and craftsman's tools, some of which were available several times over," said Rainer Eschedor. The members of the association also restaged several special themed areas, including the cobbler's and cigar maker's workstation, the nostalgic cooking area and the utensils for domestic butchery. The exhibits were put in the right light. Chairman Friedrich Krüger took care of the lighting and expressed his thanks for the advisory and financial support provided by the "Craftsmanship meets Culture" project. The Minden-Lübbecke district thus helps small museums in the Mühlenkreis.
Visitors can visit the so-called Schaumagazin in small guided groups or have it shown and explained to them in the boiler house using digital media. In any case, there is a lot to discover from the old days.
