During a weekend trip the teacher Tom Michell encounters a tragic scene: hundreds of penguins dead on a beach, victims of an oil spill. Tom spots a lone penguin coated in oil and tar and cleans the bird. To his surprise, the penguin forms an immediate attachment to him.
When Tom attempts to release the penguin back into the wild, the penguin refuses to leave. Left with no choice, Tom smuggles him across the border into Argentina. Once at the school, the penguin becomes an instant celebrity, charming students and staff ...
Inspired by the true story of a disillusioned Englishman who went to work in a school in Argentina in 1976. After rescuing the penguin, his life is turned upside-down.
Der Film wird im englischen Original mit deutschen Untertiteln gezeigt. Im Anschluss an den Film wird es unter der Leitung von Gabriele Kluß Gelegenheit geben, über den Film in englischer Sprache zu sprechen.
